Google's toolbar sparks concern

I've choosen the link to BBC news but Click Here for a more techy review. Basically, the concern is around Googles new AutoLink feature, that can change normal text in your web document (though not existing links) into links to other sites such as Amazon. This is putting Google in a bad light. Google has long been a company that people tend to admire and look up to, but this Autolink feature smacks of Spyware like activities - though it's not - and because of the recent IPO it's understandable Google are seen as pandering to the needs of shareholders. There are other features in the new Toolbar. And the current version is in Beta. You don't even have to use the Google Toolbar. And Marketers? How long before we see the opportunity to pay to have your own links in the ActiveLink service...
