Google Suggest

This is a useful little tool from Google itself (it's on their "Labs" pages). It's still in Beta but even now it's pretty cool. Type in your keywords into the standard Google search input and as you type it comes up with suggested keywords WITH the amount of times each suggestion has been searched for. Good for brainstorming! This is an interesting site listing 200 or so of the worlds most prolific spammers. ROKSO - the Registry Of Known Spam Operators - has traced the various hosts, redirects and domaims down to these people who they claim are responsible for 90% of the worlds spam. Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)

If you run WinXP you should install it. You may already have downloaded it through the automatic-updates in Windows, or you can get it from the site or order a CD. Make Your Own Software

This is another new release I'm receiving a lot of offers for, so I thought I'd check it out. This is from Mike Chen, who has a history of creating software tools (such as Web Army Knife, ScreenBlaze, etc.) A while back he left this form of marketing to create Free Agent Path with Mark Joyner, but it looks like he's back. I was ready to dismiss this tool but there are already two products out created with it, including Russel Brunsons "Sales Letter In A Box" which is a success a story in itself, and Jeremy Burns automated Pop In creator (which he's giving away free). It's simple to use. It's a fill in the blanks tool, and shouldn't take you long to get the hang of it. Set up some variables (the parts your user can modify) and tell the program what to do with it, and it will spit out an exe file ready for you to distribute... Simple! And if you're stuck for ideas, just check the sales page. It tells you all you need there and you are even supplied with more ideas on a regular basis :-) This is worth a look. Not for everyone, but if you are interested in your own product WITHOUT hiring someone, or (worse) learning to program, this is for you. Just think, you can get your software created then all you need to do is put up a webpage, maybe get a graphic for it, and add in an affiliate solution (perhaps just use Clickbank). Now... This is strange! Mike Filsaime (of lots of sites) has put up a anti-joe-kumar site giving away his "30 days" ebook. Joe Kumar is really `old news` now, but he was a guy who had help from tons of Gurus (who practically wrote his book for him) then apparently ripped them all off by selling too many licenses when he was supposed to sell just 10. I don't know all the facts, and I'm not sure about the legality of giving it away (there is a `price fixing` law that says you can sell something for any price if you have the rights). Don't be fooled - Mike is being quite clever! The site looks like a fun, community-type site but it is obviously designed to generate leads and to gain traffic. Which it will. By the bucketloads. The JUICE Site is down...

The Juice free broadband site is down while it's upgraded to V3. I don't know what to read into this - perhaps the sceptics are right, perhaps they are upgrading ready for launch - but the site still contains a form you can fill in for pre-registration. At last I found a review of Traffic Secrets that isn't full of praise. Although I haven't seen the package I've said I doubt it's the be-all and end-all of traffic generation, and a lot of people forking out $997 will be dissapointed. Markus Allen has seen the package, so here's his unbiased review! We can all take lessons from the amazing marketing drive preceding "Traffic Secrets" but from a purchasers point of view and not an affiliates it's a different story.

Viral Clickbank Ads Network

This has the capacity to become something very powerful. After AdSense came Affiliate Power Ads... now there's CBClicks. This looks interesting because (a) you can select a keyword to target the ads, i.e. ebook ads on an ebook page and (b) it uses a pyramid system - meaning YOUR clickbank ID is shifted in position through your downline (much like the $5 paypal scams) so your ID ends up on a lot of pages. The only problem I can see is that in a strip of say 6 ads only one of those ads will actually be linked to your clickbank ID. Still, it's free so give it a go.

World Wide Scam

This is an interesting site. I usually find these places and the spamcop-type sites a little heavy handed and VERY biased towards the complainer (who is NOT always right). World Wide Scam I find rather entertaining... Don't take everything they say as the literal truth (these are pretty one-sided stories) but it's still a worthwhile read. The talking head on the homepage is a mite irritating though.

I'm still impressed with my host. I'm paying less than $10 a month with Hostoodle for a RESELLER account with 25gb traffic and more-or-less unlimited hard drive space. I have around 10 sites here. I'm most impressed with the little touches, for example their Cpanel has something called "Fantastico" which has a ton of scripts AUTOMATICALLY installed for you, such as content management systems, Blog systems, Ad servers, Bulletin Boards, Shopping Carts, etc etc. And their service is second to none - for example today a small error resulted in some downtime but a quick message through their support system and I had a reply in a few minutes and it was fixed. Only just discovered this cool little site that saves a lot of manual work if you're after "Niche" sites. It works just like a search engine. Think up a term, type it in, and it will tell you how many people are searching for it AND how many competing sites exist for it - the two stats you need to find a Niche... Quick Example: Tennis Rackets: "Discounted Tennis Rackets" reveals there are 11,200 searches with only 33 sites, a 2.54 ratio - and Discounted Tennis Rackets is obviously an e-commerce related search term. The other valuable term here is "How To String Tennis Rackets" with a ratio of just 0.80 (13,800 searches and 8 Sites!). This would get traffic but is not so obvious a choice to make money with. Here's an exciting new opportunity that may just prove to be very lucrative... Daily Free Recipes

The final touch to the Recipe Project is complete! Now we have a free service at daily-recipe.com leading to the paid collection at the same site. This whole project was done in record time, don't know if it can be considered a niche site (Recipes is a broad category) but it's definately outside Internet Marketing. Breaking Google AdWords News...

Is Google moving into Banner advertising? No, but their new `image` feature for AdWords sure brings back memories! Google now lets you use images in their "ad sense" formats that will appear on their content network. It doesn't effect the Search Engine ad results, but still you can create pretty big ads now. Use the largest size available, and create image ads consisting mainly of text, and you'll get big, informative ads content-targeted on some big sites. Something to work on! Google Adwords

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but if you want a GMAIL Account (Googles BIG Mailbox) you can get one if you're a member of Blogger. I don't think you can sign up at Gmail.com yet.

Ultimate Recipes

After a couple of hours work I've thrown up my first Recipe site. It sells a package of recipes from a quick sales page. Basically, it's a kind of experiment. If these kind of quickie sites work I'll get going on more. It has ads running in AdWords so in a day or two I'll see what sales, if any, it has made. Time taken: 3 1/2 hours which includes finding and buying the product, locating and editing graphics, creating the website, and uploading everything. More Maintenance... New Creditbook Site

In my maintenance rounds I've updated my old "AAA Credit Guide" site. This was my first site and the first to make me money. It offers ebooks on Credit Help and that's what I've mainly updated. The Autoresponder series was tweaked and moved to another service, the books provided updated with newer versions, and the bonuses updated. The rest performs pretty well so I left the copy along ;) AAA Credit Guide By the way - I noticed the venerable "Free To Sell" is now a PDF based "Free To Sell PRO". New Project...

I've just bought "Daily-Recipe.Com" and intend to turn it into a recipe a day site offering free recipes and also selling digital cookbooks. I don't know if it will make much money, but I can see that there are a lot of searches on this subject and a lot of material to use. The site itself should be pretty easy to setup (just a front page, an autoresponder, and perhaps a book page). I'll have to see how it goes, but I want to get at least one site running away from the "Internet Marketing" arena :-)

Web Boot Camp

I just signed up into this and I'm currently checking it out... but it looks very interesting! Basically it's a complete package to train newbies how to build and promote a website, providing all the tools and manuals they need. I've seen great newbie packages before that cost a lot more than this, since Web Boot Camp is just $20 and it's a one-off $20 at that! You also get the ability to resell the Web Boot Camp (still within the $20). Looks like a cool income stream but MORE IMPORTANTLY providing a service that is lacking in the Marketing world. Been experimenting with Google Adwords (again!). Here's the basic tip I picked up. Take your best performing keywords and put them into a an ad on their own. Each ad is then targeted to the keyword, and shows up in bold for the exact match. You can tweak costs per click and landing pages better then (you can also do this with "powerposting"). For example, say you're selling jewelry. You might have an ad campaign targeting keywords like "buy rings", "buy necklace", "buy gold jewelry" etc. You find out that "buy rings" is getting lots of impressions, so take it from the "general" ad-group and make a new one just targeting that one keyword. The ad for that keyword will then be written to display "buy rings" as the title, and the ad will say "Buy quality rings at discount prices, full range online." (or whatever - just a quick made up example!). The main point is a searcher types "buy rings" and one of the ads on the side will say "buy rings" so they connect. Other ads may be more general. You can go deeper, of course, targetting hundreds of keywords... "buy gold rolex" etc. For other campaigns on other products, you can target right down the products model name, or even part numbers etc. For example, (a motorbike) "Kawasaki KLX 650". This is a funny piece of Spam I received from a search-engine optimisation company. They boast of the usual guaranteed #1 placement - for example they claim they are rated number 1 on Yahoo for "MONEY BACK SEARCH ENGINE PLACEMENT PROS" and number 1 on Google for "PERSONAL SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION ACCOUNT REP". Get real! Who is going to search for search engine optimisation using a search phrase like that? I'm only mentioning this as this email to sell seo services is a perfect example of why you shouldn't :-) The search phrases you get the guaranteed placement for are rarely of much use... (E.G. I'm number 1 for Affiliate Programs Commissions)

Just finished Netpreneur News 61. I'll send this out tomorrow and put it on the main website then. I've also purchased the websites for "The Best Deal Ever". This way, instead of earning commissions on it I can get 100% profits from it. It's a great deal, Mike Filsaime was selling them for $47 a pop. It's great for him too, since he sells the package for $47 then the site on top. I sent out another email for Marketing Dashboard, since it has converted well in the past (it's a great product). Their new big thing is Gmail, a Hotmail annhilator. They promise unlimited account capacity, advanced spam blocking, and more - and it's free. The revenue will come from Ads, since Adwords will now appear at the email login, targeted to the email content. So AdWords users will also benefit :-) Outside of Marketing: Just watched Matrix Revolutions - cool movie. 8/10 for the action and effects, 5/10 for the plot. Eye candy. Reading - Stephen King's "Bag of Bones". I'm a big King fan. Can't wait for "Dark Tower VI". I've also got "From a Buick 8" to read then I've nothing else of King's left :-( I'm going to tackle the Illuminatus! Trilogy then... See ya next time!

First, you may have noticed I've moved the Blog to the Blogger.Com Service. This is free, and it can be used directly on your site without advertising. The old blog-script seemed to mess up the dates, and create weird archives. The other reason is the Blogger.Com service is incorporated directly into the Google Toolbar and Blogger.Com blogs are searchable and linked, maybe increasing traffic :)

The last week hasnt been so good business-wise. The EBEI Autoresponder was down, and since I rely on that for most of my communications it was a bit of a blow. It happened as I was supposed to send a paid-ad too, so that didn't look very professional.

I may have to move from EBEI, even though I've been happy with it. My whole web business suffered and I became a little demoralised with the entire Net Marketing thing, but I'm back on track now with a smile on my face :) - heck, where else can you make money and help others to do the same, and for little effort (compared to real world jobs)?

This isn't my entire income, though. I do have a "real world" job, as I'm not quite to the pack-your-job stage yet :) It's not as common as you're led to believe, and neither are the ridiculously high claims of incomes. I believe it is quite possible to supplement your income and build to a replace your income but it takes time.

One thing I'm beginning to see is the core tasks needed for a successful web business. It shouldn't be any surprise to you to learn that they are (A) Create your own product, (B) Own your own site, and (C) Build your own list. THEN you supplement that with back-end sales via JVs and Affiliate programs.

MLMs and Network Programs are a different kettle of fish. These need you recruit and train, as well as sell. I'm beginning to see that even if their POTENTIAL incomes are much higher than traditional marketing MOST people will NEVER make a good income out of them. BUT the trainers/recruiters will always try to convince you that you CAN, and use the spillover claims and the "just recruit x people" claims. Beware.

The only time I see MLMs/Downline/Network programs worth using is if their offer a product that will help your business. Hence the EBEI, Kiosk Leads and Push Button Publishing programs I promote. EBEI provides my autoresponder, so it's worth promoting the affiliate/downline part of it to make money from something you use anyway. PBP provides another responder, my hosting and my resell products. Kiosk Leads provides the Leads and the conversion of these leads. My advice is only promote a MLM/Network program if you use the product, and stay away from those that have products just to keep the MLM legal, unless you're a good recruiter!

Finally here's a good quote I heard on TV last night, on the BBC program "Hustle" (about con-artists): You can't cheat a honest man. Find someone who wants something for nothing, and give them nothing for something.

Now, I'm not advocating you go out and cheat anyone, I'm warning you about expecting something for nothing. If you do, you're the one who will be cheated!

This time around EBEI is performing well, especially promoting the 2000 leads for $1 offer. An ad to the "Higher Ground Marketing" ezine converted well. If you haven't checked the offer be sure to visit Empire Building Essentials International 2000 leads and a bullet-proof autoresponder for $1 can't be bad! They've also upgraded to multiple servers for the responder with a limit on the users per server - resulting in increased speed and reliablity. Cool.

I also had a few signups for the Dont Touch My Ads Program - basically a software based Ads exchange. It works well, and is pretty unobtrusive, but because of the ads viewed to ads shown ratio (something like 10:1) you need to build a downline, since every view in 5 levels counts as 1 credit. It's all free so is ideal to promote as a freebie traffic tool :) Dont Touch My Ads . I also have to confess, another reason for promoting DTMA is the current promotion contest, so join quick if you want to be part of that.

You may also notice each of those links use Opportunity.com to cloak them. Couple of reasons: 1. it's a cool cloaking URL and 2. It works fast, it's pretty clean (just 1 popunder) and it builds a email-able downline for you. It also tracks the clicks, but doesn't give you full data for those clicks. Worth joining! The urls look nicer than those tinyurl.com ones :)

I'm having trouble finding good Clickbank programs to promote on AdWords. Adwords went off with a bang when I started, but it's slowing down. The "Best Deal Ever" converts well and pays 75% but others I've tried including Speeding Tickets and Hypnotic Seduction (lol) haven't converted well. AdWords is all about finding niches, but these niches are fast running out! Any suggestions???

I had another brainwave for Netprenuer News. Why not totally switch from publishing an ezine and just publish a weeks Weblog Digest. Some third party blog systems offer this feature, but it's easy enough to do manually and get more control. That way I can basically write the ezine in `real time` and offer alternative ways to subscribe, since email is so fickle these days. I wont be the first to do this, its happening already, but I dont know how successful it is.

I've been searching clickbank and commission junction to try and increase affiliate revenue, with AdWords and with Enhance. The programs I'm currently trying are a little different...

From ClickBank I'm promoting Beat Speeding Tickets ebooks and a Hypnotic Seduction ebook and MyAutoresponderPro. We'll see how they go!

From CJ I'm focusing on 123 Website Builder.

Ads are running on Google for these. I'm also promoting my Ebay Pack on both Google and Enhance, and the changes I made seem to be working better, with more sales. The rest are not really performing so far, but I only just put them up... I've dropped the "Best Deal Ever" resell pack since it stopped selling.

Apparently, it's best to get on the NEW clickbank affiliates (since there's always new stuff each week). I'm also thinking of putting the Ultimate eBay as an affiliate on Clickbank to encourage sales. With the amount of automated clickbank malls, popunders, search thingies etc perhaps it will grab sales without even being actively promoted to affiliates...

With all this going on EBEI has changed its autoresponder again, meaning until I get the leads moved from the old to the new I can't use the email system. Issue 60 sent a day or two ago (tried it in HTML format this time) is only now reaching my own inbox. May have to send again, but as a reminder link to the online issue.

I have a busy weekend coming up so probably not much in the way of computer and website maintenance will be happening. Nearly everything is automated now so that shouldn't matter. Ah... the wonders of modern technology!
